THE GLASSBLOWING HOUSE
We worked with a local developer to convert a disused industrial space on Plymouth's bustling Barbican front into a sumptuous 70 seater restaurant and bar. The building had originally been designed as a space to demonstrate the art of glassblowing, and embraced this as our theme for the interior.
Despite being less than 20 years old, the building was listed and designed specifically to lose the heat of the gas fired furnace at its centre, providing plenty of challenges for the design team tasked with converting it.
Using student photography as artwork, and installing a huge feature chandelier made entirely of hand blown glass spheres, we transformed the interior space from utilitarian to glamorous.
